STUDIO / Study Trips

In Spring 2015 studio_hani rashid went to Fankfurt and Berlin Germany. The focus of the trip in Frankfurt was to study the typology and urban integration of various museums which included a guided tour by museum director and curator Max Hollein. In Berlin we did concentrate on the side of art production and did visit Ólafur Elíasson’s and Tomás Saraceno’s atelier among other cultural institutions and sites like the Philharmonic by Hans Scharoun and the Neue Nationalgallerie by Mies van der Rohe.

 

 

Fall 2014/15 studio_hani rashid did visit Bassano del Grappa, Altivole, Mantova and Torino in Italy. The trip started with a grappa tasting at Bolle Nardini by Massmiliano Fuksas and did lead to cultural institutions and architectural highlights like Pier Luigi Nervi’s Cartiera Burgo and Palazzo del Lavoro, Carlo Molino’s Auditorium Rai as well as Guariono Guarini’s Capella della Sacra Sindone and Chiesa di San Lorenzo. The program also included a stop at the former Lingotto Fiat automobile factory by Matté Trucco which served as an inspiration for our studio topic “Redhook Redux” Fall 2014/15.

 

 

In fall 2013 studio_hani rashid went to Paris and Orléans. The program included a visit of the Naturalizing Architecture and Art & Architecture exhibition at the Frac Centre, a tour at the Maison La Roche by Corbusier and visits to a range of cultural institutions and architectural highlights such as the Centre Pompidou, the Institute du Monde Arabe, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the new philharmonic by Jean Nouvel. Besides architectural landmarks the studio did walk the city to experience the impact of various urban planning including Bernhard Tschumi's Park de la Villette.

 

In summer term 2012 studio_hani rashid went to New York. The program included a review at Asymptote and guided tours in various institutions such as the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Lincoln Center, the DIA Beacon etc. Besides major architectural landmarks and cultural highlights such as the P1 MOMA, the Museum of the Moving Image, Grand Central, Natural History Museum, the New Museum etc. we went to see current up and rising artists and galleries.

 

In October 2012 Studio_Hani Rashid went to see the WU Campus construction site, a new campus for the economy univeristy in Vienna. The WU Campus is located next to the Prater and will host 25.000 students and 1.500 employes. An alumni from the Institute of Architecture gave a tour through the construction site and the library by Zaha Hadid Architects.
